The Rott, Růžička & Guttmann Patent, Trademark and Law Office was founded in 1990. It specializes in intellectual property rights, and during its existence to date it has earned a firm place among the leading firms in this field both in Czech Republic and in Slovakia. The foundation of the services the office provides is protection of industrial property rights for domestic and foreign clients. This involves in particular applications for protection of inventions, of utility and industrial designs, of topographies for semi-conductor products, of plant varieties, of trademarks, and of designations of the origin of products, and research regarding patents and trademarks. In the framework of this activity the office maintains contact with representatives in more than 120 countries. The office also provides services in the area of copyright and laws on economic competition.

Services requested by clients in case of violation of their rights are fundamental and provided as a matter of course. The office thus asserts their claims both in the framework of private law (preliminary injunctions, suits, etc.) and in the framework of public law (e.g. customs measures). The office is a leader in the Czech Republic in combating piracy of products. In this area it represents leading world manufactures of brand merchandise.

Members of the staff are authorized to represent not only in proceedings of the Office of Industrial Property in both the Czech Republic and Slovakia, but also in court proceedings. One of the partners in the office is also an arbitrator for the Arbitration Court of the Chamber of Commerce of the Czech Republic and Chamber of Agriculture of the Czech Republic.

At the present time the staff of the office consists of three seniors partners, attorneys at law, patent attorneys, legal clerks, and additional collaborators. The attorneys and patent attorneys have many years of practical experience in the field of industrial property rights and in all the basic scientific and technical fields.

The office has a separate branch in Bratislava - Rott, Růžička & Guttmann Patent, Trademark and Law Office v.o.s. (general commercial partnership) - founded in 1993.

Simultaneous representation in the Czech and Slovak Republics results in savings for clients. The Bratislava branch is staffed by attorneys at law, patent attorneys and office clerks.

At the present time there are five attorneys at law and sixteen patent attorneys working in the Prague and Bratislava offices. A separate research team consisting of six people conducts trademark research for leading search providers, e.g. Thomson Compu-Mark and Novagraaf-Eurosearch, Knijff Multisearch etc. The office provides services in English, German, French, Russian, Slovakian and Japanese.

The partners and patent attorneys are members of the international associations AIPPI, INTA, AIPLA, FICPI, ECTA, MARQUES, and LES.
